Specialty Services: Comprehensive Dental Care

Scripps Center for Dental Care in La Jolla is a unique group specializing in preventive and appearance-related dentistry. We focus on providing this care in a five-star service environment. Hygiene—Cleaning & Prevention

These prevention-focused services are provided by specially trained and certified Registered Dental Hygienists. Our goal is primarily to improve and maintain the soft tissues and supporting structures of the mouth. Doing so results in better overall health and contributes positively to tooth preservation.

The following treatments are provided by our excellent team of dental hygienists: Jessica Hamlin, Ann Leath, Andrea Morrison, and Loree Oberle-Edwards:

• Child prophylaxis and fluoride
• Deep cleanings with anesthesia

Periodontics—Gum Surgery

A periodontist is responsible for the treatment and prevention of diseases of the supporting structures of the teeth, which include the gums and bone. These treatments are routinely performed under local anesthesia or mild sedation. Our goal is to help correct problems that have already developed and prevent further damage, which can help patients keep their teeth for many years.

The following treatments are provided by La Jolla periodontist Marlin E. Gher:

• Laser periodontal disease treatment
• Deep cleaning with anesthesia

Oral Surgery—Dental Implants & Wisdom Teeth

An oral and maxillofacial surgeon treats injuries and deformities, extracts teeth, and performs surgery of the mouth, jaw, and face. Our goal is to provide ultimate patient comfort during any dental procedure by utilizing outpatient general anesthesia administered by highly trained personnel in a comfortable office setting.

The following treatments are provided by La Jolla oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Roger S. Kingston:

• Anesthesia consultation and needs assessment
• General anesthesia, IV sedation, and nitrous oxide sedation
• Placement of dental implants
• Wisdom teeth assessment and treatment
• TMJ/facial pain consultation and treatment

Endodontics—Root Canal Therapy

Endodontics is the realm of certified specialists who provide treatment for the roots of teeth. This therapy most often involves a comfortable procedure completed in one sitting. Our goal is to relieve discomfort, provide proper restorations, and allow patients to keep their teeth indefinitely.

The following root canal treatments are provided at our dental office in La Jolla:
