The BriteSmile® Teeth Whitening Process

When you come to our San Diego office in the La Jolla area for teeth whitening, a member of our cosmetic dentistry team will meet with you to discuss your smile-enhancing goals and to make sure that you are a suitable candidate for the high-tech BriteSmile® laser teeth whitening system we employ. To begin your treatment, you will be asked to brush your teeth with a special toothpaste designed to remove any debris from your teeth. Then a safe, hydrogen peroxide-based gel will be painted onto your teeth, and you will recline while your mouth is exposed to a blue laser light for about 20 minutes. This process will then be repeated two more times for a total exposure time of one hour. Most patients who come to our La Jolla, San Diego practice for teeth whitening complete their full treatment in about 90 minutes.
