The Dental Crowns Process

This step will create room for the crown to be fitted over the damaged tooth without compromising the positioning of the surrounding teeth. It also makes the surface of the tooth slightly more porous so that the dental crown can properly adhere to it. Sometimes, a patient’s tooth is damaged to such an extent that it is necessary for the dentist to perform a root canal to remove any decay or bacteria before the tooth is sealed with the crown. Once the tooth has been prepared, an impression of it will be taken and sent to our master ceramist, whose specialty is custom-crafting dental crowns to match the patient’s natural teeth. When the restoration is ready, the patient will return to our office in La Jolla to have his or her dental crown placed.
