Due to advances in materials, the results of direct freehand bonding can be very realistic and exhibit incredible shine and lifelike colors. Advantages of this type of cosmetic care include minimal or no tooth preparations, instant results, total control of shade and shape, and a reduction in cost because no lab fees are generated. Among the limitations is a lack of long-term durability; restorations completed with direct freehand bonding last only about half as much time as porcelain veneers and other restorations. Direct freehand bonding is an excellent option for patients who are younger, those in transition who are waiting for porcelain veneers as a final restoration or those who are not quite ready to invest in the cost for porcelain veneers.
Our leader in cosmetic dentistry, Dr. John Weston, who is an Accredited Fellow in the AACD, is widely recognized for his artistic and technical skill with respect to direct freehand bonding and has earned a reputation for the consistently beautiful transformations he has completed with this procedure.
