Smile Design in La Jolla, San Diego

At the Scripps Center for Dental Care in La Jolla, we create what we call a Smile Design, a custom-designed smile, which can transform any of our San Diego patients’ smile. During your visit for a smile design, cosmetic dentist Dr. Weston will mock up a new smile in your mouth which will allow you to view the proposed changes before treatment begins.

So when it comes to Cosmetic Dentistry, one of the things that I like to talk about and actually offer to my patients is something we call Smile Design. We don’t just simply, you know, grind on the patient’s teeth and send it to the lab and say make veneers. What we actually do is sit the patient down and custom design a smile for each patient. This involves a little bit of chair time, photography and we actually can place the material in the mouth to simulate the patient’s new smile and take of picture of them and let them see that compared to the way they started. It gives us a road map and a template to go by and allows the laboratory to create a smile that’s custom-designed for them, that will absolutely satisfy them and has been approved ahead of time, so there’s no surprises when we get done. We know what we’re getting. The patient knows what they’re getting and we get great results with that.
