Laser Dentistry – La Jolla, San Diego

At the Scripps Center for Dental Care in La Jolla, we use laser technology for a number of procedures. Among these are cosmetic procedures such as gum reshaping. We also use laser technology in our hygiene department where the hygienists are using this technology on a regular basis for nearly every patient.

In our practice, we do use laser technology. We use it in a number of ways. In cosmetic cases, we actually can use a laser to actually shape the tissue and move it either up or over or around so our ability to shape tissue around cosmetic cases is very important. We consider it, the tissue, to be the frame of the teeth and you don’t want to have a great picture without a great frame. The other way we use lasers in the practice is with our Hygiene Department where we can decontaminate the pockets around the teeth and offer a very rapid ability for the patient to heal and that’s something that the Hygienists are using on a regular basis nearly on every patient.
