The Dental Implant Placement Process

When patients come to Scripps Center for Dental Care in the La Jolla area of San Diego for dental implants, the first step is a consultation with Dr. Phillips. During your meeting, he will determine whether you are a suitable candidate for implant dentistry and help you set realistic goals for your treatment.

Once it has been determined that dental implants are a good option for you, Dr. Phillips will prepare your mouth to receive the titanium tooth roots. Once your gums and jaws have been prepared and are fully healed, you will return to our office for a second visit to have the titanium tooth roots for the dental implants secured into your jawbone. It takes roughly three to six months for your bone to fuse with the titanium, creating stable and dependable roots for your custom-crafted replacement teeth.

During your final visit with implant dentistry specialist, Dr. Phillips will attach your beautiful, custom-crafted prosthetic teeth to the titanium roots.
