Oral Surgery

While many other dental practices refer out for oral surgery, patients at Scripps can enjoy the convenience of a consult right here at our La Jolla practice with Dr. Evan S. Gold, our board-certified oral surgeon. Minor oral procedures are sometimes required to prep your teeth for another treatment or to simply keep your mouth in optimal condition. We offer common services like wisdom teeth removal, tooth extractions, bone grafting, and “teeth-in-a-day” implant surgery, among other types of oral surgery at our facility. Our up-to-date techniques and cutting-edge 3D digital imaging technology help ensure precision and predictability with each procedure.

Periodontics

Whether you are in need of a dental implant to replace a missing tooth root or simply require gum disease treatment, periodontics focuses on the health of your gums and other supportive structures of the teeth. Our periodontist, Dr. Erez Nosrati, performs the latest minimally invasive techniques to correct an array of gum-related issues, including laser therapy to eradicate bacteria and the Pinhole Surgical Technique® to treat gum recession. Dr. Nosrati often collaborates with our prosthodontist and oral surgeon to replace missing or extracted teeth with realistic, fully functioning restorations.

Orthodontics

A well-aligned jaw and bite are essential to a healthy smile, as well as your physiological well-being. Along with the obvious cosmetic concerns that come with crooked or misaligned teeth, many jaw joint dysfunctions—such as issues related to TMJ disorder—start with a poor bite (malocclusion). Orthodontics are a means of preventing, diagnosing, and treating dento-facial irregularities to optimize both smile and biting function. Our board-certified orthodontist, Dr. John R. Jerome, offers many treatment options to discreetly straighten your teeth and restore proper alignment between your upper and lower jaws. Dr. Jerome works with our aesthetic dentists to incorporate smile-enhancing techniques, like cosmetic braces, into your treatment plan.

Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics, or the design, creation, and fitting of dental restorations, is vital to recovering lost function from missing or severely damaged teeth. Whether you are in need of implants, dentures, partial dentures, crowns, or bridges, prosthodontist Robert L. Bosworth, DDS, MS is committed to restoring the form and function of your teeth. In addition to looking realistic, the goal of artificial teeth is to feel like an organic part of your mouth. Dr. Bosworth works in accordance with our cosmetic dentists and periodontist to find the restoration that provides the most natural look and feel for your needs.

Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)

If bacteria, decay, or an infection has penetrated the underlying roots and nerves of a tooth, endodontic techniques are necessary to treat damage within the inner dental pulp. Root canal therapy is often a tooth-saving procedure that can not only sanitize harmful bacteria in the mouth, but also alleviate the pain of a tooth infection. Bacteria buildup in the dental pulp can potentially lead to more serious medical conditions without professional treatment, highlighting the importance of visiting an endodontist when you notice the symptoms of a tooth infection. It is not uncommon for our certified root canal specialist to work with our periodontist to facilitate complete gum health.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Almost every dental specialty relates back to cosmetic dentistry in some capacity. Ultimately, the ability to help patients achieve a bright, stunning smile is among the core objectives of our practice. Cosmetic treatments aim to perfect the shape, length, color, and symmetry of your teeth and gums using conservative, tissue-preserving techniques. Our cosmetic dentists work closely with our prosthodontist, orthodontist, and restorative dentist to provide patients with the best possible outcomes after Invisalign®, porcelain veneers, dental crowns, and teeth whitening, among other services. Given the specialized experience of Dr. John F. Weston—a Fellow of the AACD (American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry)—and Dr. Nicholas Marongiu—an Accredited Member of the AACD—our dental team is uniquely qualified to perform your cosmetic treatment.

Everything went as scheduled today with the addition of a crown to my implanted metal stud. It feels great! Another professional procedure done with precision as on many other occasions during the last 18 years.
