Anthony J. Opilka, DDS, MS Periodontics
Dr. Opilka received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from the University of Illinois. After 6 years practicing as a general dentist, he completed a demanding 3-year periodontics residency at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD (at the President’s Hospital) and achieved Diplomate status (Board certification) from the American Board of Periodontology in 2002.
Dr. Opilka was on staff at the Periodontics Naval Postgraduate Dental School from 2006-2009 where he mentored periodontics residents. He is an educator as well and has given numerous lectures on the many clinical techniques he has mastered over the years. Throughout his career as a Naval Officer, he was honored to treat many of the Navy’s VIP’s including pilots of Marine One (the President’s Helicopter).
Dr. Opilka believes in the ultimate comfort for his patients and is certified to provide both oral and IV conscious sedation. He specializes in surgical placement of dental implants, gum grafting, and gum reshaping for health and esthetic enhancement. He works very closely with his restorative team to create outstanding cosmetic outcomes for his patients under his care.
Dr. Opilka is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration, San Diego County Dental Society, American Society of Dental Anesthesiology, and California Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Opilka enjoys golf and playing guitar. He and his wife have two children and they enjoy boarding, swimming, and discovering great food.
